Tofino, BC located on the Esowista Peninsula on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Tofino sits on kilometers of rugged coastline that washes over sandy beaches, unspoiled wilderness, and is one of the most visited places in British Columbia. Tofino undoubtedly is one of the most pristine places to see in the world.

ACCOMMODATIONS: There are a number of lodging choices in Tofino from luxury Inns to remote camping. For complete lodging information please visit: There are many hidden gems in the region that we are happy to help you navigate.

TRAVEL: The nearest airport is located in Tofino, although Vancouver International (YVR) is about 4 hours away, with a two hour ferry plus a two hour drive. You drive on Highway 4 westbound from Nanaimo, drive through the coastal mountain pass alongside the Kennedy river, and you've made it to the town of Tofino. From there, the class is hosted at the iconic Cox beach, where the time away from the classroom is spilt between sandy beaches and the rainforest.

NEARBY ACTIVITIES Hiking, surfing, kayaking, and wildlife tours are the most popular in Tofino. A search of "The schooner cove trail", "South Beach trail", and "Wild Pacific trail" in Tofino will get you started. There are secluded hot springs an hour boat ride north of Tofino. Some of our favorite beaches include Cox bay, Long beach, and Florencia bay. Surfing is popular in Tofino (with lessons available to novices), and there exists a high probability for swell and excellent conditions in both Spring and Fall. Whale and nature scenic tours are also available. Please inquire through Backcountry Medical Guides and we'd be happy to help set something up.
