"In Liberia, West Africa there was a car accident that involved a rolled truck with 15 local kids in the back of the pick up and everyone was injured, some were critical. Using the skills I learned in Backcountry Medical Guides Wilderness First Responder program, a friend and I were able to help safely assess the scene, evaluate the severity of patient's conditions, take proper precaution to protect potential c-spine injuries, stop bleeding of life threatening injuries, and rush the most critical patients to the hospital four hours away. I would not have been able to help without my WFR training."

PROFILE MARITIME: BELIZE SAILING VACATIONS
Belize Sailing Adventures contracted BMG doc Mike Wallace, Captain/Paramedic John Taussig, and Nurse Kate to train their staff, in compliance with Coast Guard medical regulations, a course specific to their staff's maritime medical concerns. 5 days later we had run the gamut- spear-fishing injuries, island-hopping disasters, sailing fails, all the scenarios... end result: A cohesive team that had tested the depths of their equipment and skills.

PROFILE SCHOOLS: TAHOE EXPEDITION ACADEMY
'TEA' is Tahoe's premier experiential education grade and middle school. This non profit has done amazing things to open the eyes of their students up to the natural world. Their equal commitment to staff, brought three BMG paramedics to North Lake for a custom Wilderness First Responder that addressed their complex and challenging backcountry work environments. The result: a staff tried, tested, and prepared to prevent and treat emergencies for their students. The students? Well, they're enrolled as well. BMG's Advanced Wilderness First Aid for Kids backpacking trip fit in real well within their summer programs.
