Program Overview

If you are spending time cruising, racing, out for the day, or offshore for a month, the knowledge gained in this course is an essential part of your tool kit. Dive into the most common types of boating injuries, preventative strategies, and sailing techniques to stay safe on the water. Learn maritime specific considerations not commonly taught in standard first aid courses.

Program Objectives

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat victims swiftly and accurately. 

  • Practice life saving skills: CPR, airway management, rescue breathing, bleeding control, and stabilization.

  • Learn trauma, medical, maritime, and environmental medicine while becoming a more prepared mariner.


This course will be held at the Anacortes Yacht Club located near the Cap Sante Marina, at the gateway to the San Juan Islands.

Certifications: Advanced First Aid / CPR for Mariners (2 years), CPR/ AED Adult , Child, Infant (2 years), Wilderness First Responder (WFR) re-certification (additional e-labs and practical apply).

Time: 18 hours, 8am - 5:30pm each day

Sailing instructors and small boaters encouraged to attend! This course will satisfy US Sailing Level 1 Instructor First Aid and CPR requirement.
