Pursuing his passion for medicine, his journey continued to medical school after two years of adventure traveling through the South Pacific and Europe. Mike spent the next chunk of his life skiing the Wasatch and biking the Utah desert while training in Emergency and Wilderness Medicine. He served 32 years as a Firefighter Paramedic/Captain with Bellingham Fire Department and is a current Firefighter and Fire Commissioner on Lummi Island Washington. Meanwhile, Dan managed to complete multiple Vic-Maui races, raced in France, New Zealand, and Russia. He regularly cruises him homeland in the PNW on his Aphrodite 101. From a family of weird ranchy folk she grew up loving to be outside, making best friends with animals, wearing silly outfits and getting really, really, really dirty. A Jill of all trades from the get go, her and her identical twin sis never failed to sniff out adventures, and what they lacked in skill they made up for in enthusiasm and a desire to learn! Thus, this landed her in the emergency room quite often as a kid... so much so she joked that she'd get paid to work there to pay her poor parents back. Starting as a wee volunteer at 17 years old in the ED, she now has spent the better part of 15 years as an ER and trauma nurse working in Philadelphia, Seattle, and even a decade of dusty desert volunteering to help build and work medical at Burning Man. A longtime climber always searching for the perfect ice and ski line, his horizons have expanded to a passion for sailing the San Juan's and Gulf Islands on his sailboat. Linda has teaching experience in university and community settings, clinic development, research and non-research projects. She and her spouse raised three kids in Idaho while taking advantage of backcountry hiking, fishing, skiing, and boat building. Currently Jesse is a paramedic for the Everett Fire Department and has been in emergency medical services for over 12 years. He earned a degree in glaciology and climate science from Dartmouth College and has worked in the outdoor industry since 2014. He primarily works as a mountain guide, and has guided teams on Mt. Everest and other Himalayan peaks, on Denali, in Ecuador, and throughout the Pacific Northwest. In the winter, Max is a ski guide and avalanche educator. With spare time, Max works on Search and Rescue teams and has assisted rescues on Mt. Rainier, Denali, and in the Himalayas. Climbing in Joshua Tree, Taquitz and Suicide Rock were his normal days out. After a near tragic climbing trip in the Arizona desert, Adam realized he needed to learn as much about medical treatment as he could. Fast forward 27 years and his resume includes roles as an EMT and Paramedic with time spent on the streets of San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley. He moved to firefighting in 1999 and served the communities of Ashland, Oregon; Berkeley, California and Santa Clara County, California. The perfect playground for any outdoor enthusiast! Lifeguarding in the summer, volleyball coach in the fall, a national ski patroller in the winter she lived for every season. Simultaneously, she earned her EMT, leading her on a whirlwind path to become a Paramedic, ER/Trauma Nurse, Travel Nurse, Critical Care Transport Nurse and currently she works as a Flight Nurse. During her years as a Travel Nurse she carefully selected contracts in ski towns and took month long stretches off for backpacking trips. The mountains got bigger, so did the risks. Outdoor safety and medicine became top priority. After several years of self education and various outdoor courses, she became certified as an Advanced Wilderness and Expedition Provider. She is also the past chair of the Wilderness Medical Society's Diploma in Diving and Marine Medicine (DiDMM), an international certification program in the essentials of caring for patients in the marine environment. After taking her first Wilderness First Responder course, she was eager to learn more and pursued her Emergency Medical Technician certification immediately after graduating. Olivia migrated to Frisco, Colorado to work as a ski patroller at Copper Mountain. Between coaching mountain biking, leading youth Conservation education programs, and assisting in training the junior ski patrol program, Olivia has a background rich in experiential teaching and facilitation of diverse groups.
