Internship

This position (based in Bellingham, WA) is for up to 40 hours each week depending on the Intern’s availability and has a flexible start date. It is an especially relevant opportunity for a student interested in the medical field, nonprofit work, marketing, outdoor recreation, and/or wilderness medicine. It is a flexible role that we are happy to tailor to the right candidate depending on their interests. This internship is unpaid and includes the opportunity for Interns to receive their Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Responder-Refresher through BMG free of charge.

Key Responsibilities

Areas of potential exploration and learning may include (but are not limited to):

  • Field Exploration

    • Shadow program instructors and assist with classes (Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness First Responder, Mountain Bike Medicine, Maritime Medicine)

    • Understand and contribute to program development and logistics

    • Undergo training in the handling and purpose of medical equipment   

  • Outreach & Marketing

    • Assist in grant writing, fundraising, and budget-related projects

    • Learn tools for website management and development

    • Aid in the creation and development of advertising campaigns

  • Gear Management

    • Pack medical equipment including first aid kits and instructor supplies

    • Organize and record equipment inventory 

    • Assess gear and conduct necessary repairs

  • Office Maintenance

    • Help maintain the BMG office/classroom setting through tasks such as cleaning, organizing, and classroom preparation
