WILDERNESS FIRST RESPONDER - REFRESHER
The Wilderness First Responder-Refresher (WFR-R) program is a recertification course for those who hold a WFR certification from a qualifying WFR program that is current or within 1 year expired. It is considered a standard for renewing expedition leaders, guides, outdoor professionals, and backcountry enthusiasts.
WFA: Wilderness First Aid Program
If WFR-R Only course dates don’t work for you, you may be able to join a Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course. Advanced scenarios must be planned for our WFR-R folks, to keep the curriculum accessible to all - so please let us know if you are recertifying before signing up!

We offer WFR-R Maritime Programs through Maritime Medical Guides, the seafaring branch of Backcountry Medical Guides. Class offerings include internationally recognized and accredited courses in Advanced CPR/First Aid For Mariners which qualify for a Wilderness First Responder-Refresher for those holding a current WFR Certification or within 1 year of expiration.

With the Salish Sea and the Cascades always close at hand, many in the Seattle community spend time adventuring on the water and in nearby wild spaces. This course focuses on practical first aid skills for those environments, helping participants feel prepared to respond to injuries and medical emergencies when they happen.
