We're Proud to Support the Whatcom World Cup
This Community is Why We Do What We Do
If you've ever ridden Galbraith Mountain on a Wednesday evening in late spring, you know how rad the Whatcom World Cup is. There's energy in the air, the sound of cowbells and heckling echoing through the trees, and a few hundred riders absolutely stoked to be alive and racing down the mountain. That's the Whatcom World Cup and why we love it. This year, Backcountry Medical Guides is proud to be the official event sponsor and to provide EMS management for the full 2026 season.
What WMBC has built with this race series is something unique. It’s not just a race, but a weekly gathering of a community that loves the trails, loves the sport, and loves each other. From the littlest groms ripping down the hill with their parents cheering (and crossing their fingers hoping that they don’t eat it), to seasoned shredders chasing podium spots, to first-timers nervously clipping in for the first time; the Whatcom World Cup holds space for everyone.
Our partnership with WMBC goes deeper than showing up on race night. We've also had the privilege of delivering first aid training to their ride leaders and community. We are proud to help ensure that the people who are already out there guiding and mentoring riders have the skills to respond confidently if something doesn’t go as planned on trail. It's the kind of collaboration that feels right at home in Bellingham: an organization building community on the mountain, and a team helping that community to take care of itself.
On race nights, you'll find our BMG medical volunteers stationed at key points along the course, radios in hand, ready to respond to anything from a minor crash to a more serious incident. The goal is always the same: keep riders safe, keep the race rolling, and make sure everyone gets home and makes it to the aprés.
Want to be part of the team? If you're a certified medical professional — EMT, Paramedic, WFR, RN, or equivalent — we'd love to have you volunteer on course this season. It's a high-energy, genuinely fun way to put your skills to work and give back to a community that is very much worth showing up for. Check out the volunteer info packet and sign up to volunteer here.
A huge thank you to the entire WMBC crew for the warmth and inclusion you bring to everything you do. You are the reason Bellingham is the mountain bike town it is. It's an honor to support the work you're doing, both on the trails and in the community.
The 2026 Whatcom World Cup kicks off this spring with 8 races + a bonus women's race, all Wednesday evenings on Galbraith Mountain. Races are open to all riders, youth included, and registration opens through Pacific Multisports. If you're a local rider and haven't experienced a WWC race night yet, this is your sign. Go register. See you out there.
