Mountain bike coaching comes with real responsibility. This two-day course is designed specifically for coaches who want to ride better and be prepared when something goes wrong on the trail. One day you'll ride with TrailWorks' Brian Astell, sharpening your technique and building the fundamentals you can pass on to your riders. The other, you're with BMG's instructors learning hands-on first aid skills built around the emergencies that happen on mountain bike trails.

The Details

  • Beginner and intermediate mountain bike coaches

    • CPR/AED Adult/Child/Infant, valid for 2 years

    • Basic First Aid, valid for 2 years

  • Led by Brian Astell of TrailWorks, the skills day is designed for beginner and intermediate riders who want to ride smarter and break through plateaus. You'll work through cornering, braking, obstacle navigation, body positioning, wheel lifts, and more — building strong fundamentals and progressing quickly.

  • BMG's first aid day is built specifically for mountain bikers. Two instructors lead hands-on scenario training focused on the injuries and emergencies most likely to happen on trail — from trauma and fractures to environmental emergencies. No riding. Just practical, applicable skills.

  • TrailWorks offers mountain bike skills clinics, camps, and coaching programs for riders of all levels. Led by Brian Astell, TrailWorks has worked with NICA leagues and coaching communities throughout the West Coast. ridetrailworks.com

  • We have a max limit of 20 riders. Groups will split up. Day 1 while a group is learning bike skills, the other group will be more stationary and focus on first aid skills. Day 2 , you switch. If you have a friend that’s taking the course too - let us know and we will pair you up!
